<p>The layout you see behind your budget name window is the budget. The first field shows the amount spent and the second field allows you to set a budget for that item. Once you have all the items budgeted as you need, then when you go to a future month you can copy the entire budget from the previous month. This is called the "New Style" default budget. It does have some limitations so I prefer to use the "Old Style - Mixed Interval" budget which you can choose when creating a new budget by selecting on the Period drop down. The old style budget tool allows you to click the "Edit" on the budget where you get a window to add budget items manually, or calculate a budget. Once set, the budget continues indefinitely into the future unless you set and end date. You can also set multiple budgets for the same item which is handy for items that change during the year like insurance. One issue with both types of budget is that they will ignore account to account transfers like loan payments, or mortgages if you have those loans built in MD. But fortunately there are work around methods to budget those items if you want.</p>
