I recently updated to MD 2021 on Mac

There are certain situations where I need to budget for a refund to an Expenses Category, such as a refund on a Mortgage overcharge. However when I put a negative in my yearly budget and then use the Budget Report to report on it, MD shows the budgeted amount as an expense.

Has this been experienced before and how do I remedy it?

Casablancatag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/490511912021-02-23T14:00:12Z2021-02-23T14:00:12ZBudget reported negative amounts as positive

just a user,

You probably just need to set up an income category for that item. On a credit card rebate you can just apply the rebate against the credit card account and the original expense category and the credit card balance and original expense category will be offset by that amount. I don't know why I would budget a Mortgage overcharge rebate because it would be one of those unexpected transactions. I would probably just create another "income" category for that event. MD probably shouldn't allow you to show a negative amount against an expense budget since it seems to just add it as a positive integer against an expense budget item.

mhoggie
