If you don't already have all of the categories set to your desired values go ahead and enter them there.

You can now copy the entire month's settings to the next month. At the top of the budget page, click on the name of that next month and you should get a pulldown menu. One of the items on that menu is "Copy previous period" so select that, and all budget values from the previous month will be copied to that next month.

You can then go to the next month after that and repeat this action for as many months as you want set up. Please note the following:

The budget function is very erratic in several ways (at least it is on my iMac that I use). Here are some that I have observed that you might want to be aware of:

1) When you select the "Copy previous period", even though the values have now been entered into the new month, MD's display of the budget window may not show you anything. You need to refresh the window in order to see the changes. E.g., you could just select an account or report display and then immediately go back to your budget. This has been like this for as long as I've had the application (3-4 years now)

2) The software supporting that pull down menu for the month is really spastic. sometime I have to click on it nearly a dozen times before it will give me the menu so that I can select the "Copy previous period) item. This has also been like this for as long as I can remember.

3) It used to be that when you did this copy, although the budgeted value put into the next month at first appeared to be the same as the month it was copied from, it would actually have been changed to a few pennies less. Since the display rounds up to the next whole dollar, you can't see this change at first. This was a nuisance though since every budget value that you have that is exact for the actual amount spent, that category would get flagged RED as being over budget. It appears that IK may have fixed this bug in the most recent release though as I have not seen it recently.

Hope this helps some.

wisemanja
