Unfortunately many banks in the UK do not yet support direct
connection to their servers and HSBC is one of those that do not.
However all is not lost, many of these banks do provide files that
can be downloaded from their website which can then be imported
into Moneydance. Its a process that requires a few more steps. I am
not sure what HSBC UK provides from its webs site as I don't have
an account with them. Log into your account on their website and
check the downloads section to see if they offer files in OFX, QIF
or OFC format. These are the major file formats. If you can
download such a file select File->Import to import the
transactions into Moneydance. There is a free trial version of
Moneydance that you can download from here:

http://moneydance.com/other

It is fully featured. The only restriction is that the number of
user entered transactions is limited to 100.

Sincerely
