I'm a fellow user and an Australian.
Australian banks do not support Direct Connect, which is the open standard that Moneydance uses to download transactions, in fact it appears that it is mainly a subset of U.S. institutions that support this.
ANZ provides the ability to download transaction files and the options for Quicken and/or Microsoft Money should give you usable files. Moneydance can import all of the standard financial formats used e.g. QIF, OFX, QFX etc and can even import text and CSV files into standard bank type accounts
