Australian Banks
Good Afternoon,
Is there any consideration in including Australian banks in the online banking option, in particular Macquarie Bank?
I know we would be a tiny percentage of users, but this platform is exactly what I have been after, except I cant import from my bank, if I could do that I think it would be ideal.

Hi Ben,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Currently, Moneydance supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect (mainly in the US) or Moneydance + (US and Canada).
At present, Australian banks don't support these connection methods. However, with the global expansion of open banking, there's hope that some Australian banks may adopt them in the future.
Without Direct Connect and Moneydance +, you are still able to easily import your data into the program using the OFX or QFX file format, if either of these are available from your bank's website. If not, you can use the QIF file format. Please find the steps for manually importing your data in this article.
If you wish, you can download the trial version of Moneydance from our website on this page.
The trial version is fully functional and allows you to manually enter 100 transactions. Imported transactions are not limited, so you'll be able to fully test downloading data from your bank, and importing data from other personal finance software.
If you decide to purchase the program at a later date you can keep all data you have entered during the trial period.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

Maddy,
You need to check the facts!
Australian Banks must comply with Open Banking today, it has been in place for some time, and the requirements for organisation to comply is growing with additional products being added over time to what is to be available through the system.
It is highly unlikely that any Australian bank will ever implement Direct Connect. This protocol was developed in the U.S. and as we have seen many U.S banks are now dropping support.
For Moneydance+ to support Australian banks it will require The Infinite Kind to partner with an aggregator that supports Australia, Plaid does not and there is no sign of Plaid adopting support for Australia, even though it has been reported they have signed an agreement, quite some time ago, with a local company that is an accredited data recipient here. We have also seen that Plaid has not proven to be a viable option outside of North America in any case, so I would not expect them to be viable for here.
