It's only a matter of time before I encounter that with Moneydance as well so I want to backup the files to a flash drive after every use. The format options are QIF, Tab delimited, and Raw JSON.

I would think I would want to use QIF, however, anytime I have used QIF to manually download any and all transactions directly from my bank I received copies of all entries made for as far back as my bank keeps the data, approximately two years. I now understand that when I manually download I have to use a QFX format and then I only receive only the new entries.

Perhaps this is only a problem for doing updates and if I am saving all my files in the event of corruption I would want to use QIF.

Any advice?

Thanks

M Nesslartag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485034892020-08-01T22:51:09Z2020-08-01T22:51:12ZBacking up

I think I answered part of my own question. I was trying to save it to export when in fact I need to save to save to export backup. That seems to clear up my problem. One other question, does export backup save all the accounts you have or is it only saving the one you have up at the time of the export backup save?

M Nesslartag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/485034892020-08-01T22:56:14Z2020-08-01T22:56:14ZBacking up

Export backup saves the currently open data set. If you have data sets that you switch between by using the File --> Open command it does not backup these when they are closed, but of course you could/would have backed them up the last time they were open.

I would suggest you examine the automatic backup options under the Preferences menu to ensure every time you exit or switch data sets a backup is taken.

dwg
