categories
how do you show entries for a particular category only (for example, personal: donations)?

Hi Steve,
Either of the Income & Expense reports will generate data based on one or more categories. The 'trick' if you will, is when setting the parameters, look to the buttons above the large box at the bottom of the parameters window. Click the 'None' button, then click the 'By Individual' button. You can then select the 'personal:donations' category.
You can also try the Transactions Filter report. There, just set the Account parameter to 'personal:donations'.

Many ways. Perhaps either 1/ run an income/expense report and choose the category or 2/ in your bank account, find a txn with the category and then CMD-[ to show the ‘other’ side, or 3/ in the top of the side bar select the category
(FYI - categories are really just accounts)
