Click the double-facing, up-and-down, arrow in the 'Check#' field.
Select 'Edit' from the resulting drop-down list.

What you are seeing is expected behaviour with the standard settings..

With the standard settings when you are entering transactions the list you see is derived from a couple of sources. The first source is the static list this is what you see when you go into the Edit field interface, it allows you to maintain this list, i.e. edit, add, delete, change items in the static list. With the default settings it will also pick up entries from already entered transactions in the register. This is where I think the value you want to change is coming from.

It would be inappropriate for the Edit list interface to allow you to edit existing transactions.

Your two options really are to find the transaction in the register and edit it or to set the list to only display the static items. Only displaying the static entries is equivalent to how Moneydance used to work.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/488327332020-11-16T21:27:28Z2020-11-16T21:27:29ZEdit Check# field

Thank you. That explains a lot and I am now able to set the field values as I wish. Great explanation.

Kerry Outlook
