exchange rate as the default rate for new transactions - regardless
of the actual transaction date. This is the value displayed under
Tools => Currencies/Exchange Rates. The historical
exchange rates (if any) seem to be only used for the Currency
History graph. I guess that means you have to manually enter the
exchange rate in the box for each transaction.

ljbtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9691462010-02-08T10:20:29Z2010-02-08T10:20:30Zwhen manually entering old info, what exchange rates are used?

So if I went through an entered some historical rates in the
"Currency/Security History" section, how would this work? (In
version 735, this is through: Tools - Currencies/Exchange Rates...
- Edit - New)

For instance if I save historical rates say for 1 January 2009
and 3 January 2009, and I have a transaction dated 2 January 2009,
what rate is used? One of those, or the default, or something in
between, or ???

And if I enter historical rates in the CSH, does this update the
rates for transactions already entered, or does it affect only
newly-entered transactions?

Theodoratag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9691462010-02-08T17:35:13Z2010-02-08T17:35:13Zwhen manually entering old info, what exchange rates are used?

Sorry, my mistake, yes it is Currencies/Exchange
Rates.

No, what I meant was that it does not use the
historical rates at all, for newly entered transactions. It always
seems to use the current rate - the rate for today, if you will,
for the transaction, regardless of the transaction's date.

ljbtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9691462010-02-08T18:08:13Z2010-02-08T18:08:14Zwhen manually entering old info, what exchange rates are used?

What is the idea behind this table of historical exchange rates
if it is not used? I would suggest disabling it if it is just to
tease those of us who deal with multiple currencies.

Theodoratag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/9691462010-02-16T18:30:24Z2010-02-16T18:30:24Zwhen manually entering old info, what exchange rates are used?

Theodora,

Thanks for your input, I'll pass it on to our developer Sean. We
are also looking into the possibility of the program using
historical rates for transactions for future builds, but it is not
on our current roadmap. I believe the idea of having the table is
so people who are interested, or who hold multiple currencies for
investment purposes, can more easily track this
information.
