I am a quicken user is looking to move to Moneydance. Does it have the following features?

  1. Manual Match?
  2. Transfer from one account to another?

Also, do you have a summary list of the features currently planned for MD 2009?

Thanks Bob

    Hi Bob

A1: Yas you can match downloaded transactions manually.

A2: I am not exactly sure what you mean by this. Do you mean a) can Moneydance instruct your bank to transfer funds between accounts? Or do you mean b) can Moneydance record transactions between accounts? If the question is the b the the answer is most definitely yes. For example if you wanted to reflect a transfer of funds from the savings account to the checking account:

Click on your savings account from the home page.

Click the "New Transaction" button at the top of the register.

Select Trn as the transaction type. Enter a useful description.

Select your checking account from the drop down list in the Category Tags column.

Enter the amount in the Payment box.

Press enter to record the transaction.

With regard to a feature list for MD2009 we do not have a complete list as yet and so I asked the developer and he gave me the following:

    • more streamlined/less error-prone transaction downloading

    • more/better reports with easier access to the reports

    • more streamlined register

    • slightly improved online bill payment

    • improved support for tags in register and reporting

I hope you find this helpful. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

    Sincerely Ben Spencer

    Hi Bob

I am assuming that you have already set up an online connection with your financial institution. If that is not the case let me know and I'll guide you through the process.

Enter the transaction register for the account you want import transactions into by clicking on it from the home page.

Click Online->"Download Transactions..." Enter your password and click ok. You will be presented with a list of the transactions downloaded form your bank. The current transaction will be at the top of the list. There will be a drop down list of all available matches. Select the transaction from that drop down list that you want to match too and click the "Record" button.

Note: it is necessary for the amount to be the same for the transactions to match. if the amounts are not the same and you want to match the transactions you would need to change the amount in the register and then download the transactions again.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Sincerely Ben Spencer
