Chromebook
I am thinking of switching to chromebook from an old pc. 2 questions: should I buy a chromebook with any minimum storage/ram to run moneydance? I keep my data on a thumbdrive, not on the pc. Will this work on chromebook also?

I think you will have issues running Moneydance on a Chromebook, from what I have read Java is not supported on Chromebook and Java is a prerequisite of Moneydance. Also, the Moneydance site does not have an installer for a Chromebook.

I'm a fellow user.
Some time ago the developer of Moneydance showed that it was possible to install the Debian version of Moneydance into a Linux subsystem on ChromeOS.
It was documented in a Knowledge Base article:

I do not believe any extensive testing was undertaken on how well it worked or any restrictions, it was more a proof of concept exercise.
