Microsoft Money 2006 - Data on backup cd
This discussion is public.
Currently I have a backup cd and I have Money files listed on my Money 2006 programme that I am unable to access being advised that the email address and password are incorrect. The email address and password are correct and I have all this data that I cannot access. Is there anyway that I can import this information into the Money Dance programme.

Hello,
I'm afraid that if you can't access your old data because of a password issue, there is no way for Moneydance to be able to retrieve it. To be able to get your data into a usable format for Moneydance, you will need to first be able to open it in MS Money and export your data into a QIF format. Detailed instructions for how to successfully do this can be found at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/importing-from-quicken-or-ms-money/..., if you manage to be able to access your data.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

Hi Iain Donaldson,
Try this...
Copy one of the MS Money data files from the CD to your hard drive.
Right-click on it and choose 'Properties' from the resulting context menu.
In the Properties dialog, make sure that 'Read Only' is NOT check-marked.
Click OK.
Try opening the data file with MS Money.

I have now purchased MoneyDance however I have two questions:-
1) I have tried to send my name and email address to Moneydance for updates and newsletter without success. the server was not recognised and have tried to send earlier messages without success. TalkTalk and Apple have both checked out my mail and I have still been unable to send.
2) Microsoft money it appears had been hacked into and the password changed and I can no longer access that data. Any thoughts
Regards,

Hi Iain,
We actually removed the newsletter feature that we had, which is why that isn't working correctly for you. Can you send us the output of your console log? This can be found by going to Help -> Console window in Moneydance, then clicking the "Copy to clipboard" button and pasting the output to us here.
As for the Microsoft Money issue, unfortunately I don't have any suggestions.
