iCloud Drive sync issue with MacOS 14
I'm currently using version 2023.2 (5007) and it doesn't work well at all with Sonoma. I know Sonoma is a beta and not supported, Just checking to see if you plan on an update when Sonoma is released to the public or some other time. Thanks ! Love Mondydance

Until the official release, we cannot confirm that running Moneydance on Sonoma would work as expected, I'm afraid. Also, we strongly recommend making regular backups of your data files if you intend to keep this set up.

As now Sonoma RC2 is out since some days, Inifnite Kind shall know that the current version of Moneydance is not running well under Sonoma (very slow, lots of beachballs) and that an update of Moneydance is mandatory (Unfortunately I have not seen a beta version proposed when checking for Update)

I'm a fellow user.
It has been noted that there are some Sonoma problems during the ongoing testing of alpha builds of Moneydance, we are currently up to build 5039.
So the developer is aware of some issues and correcting them is a work in progress.

We are pleased to inform you that a new preview including several fixes, has just been released.
Moneydance 2023.2 (5052) is now available to download from this page.
For a full list of improvements in the preview version, please refer to this page.
Finally, we recommend to overwrite/remove the older version and restart Moneydance!

But this version is still very sluggish on Apple Silicon. The prepreview version 5042 is far much snapier. I will continue using it until a next beta or release version will not exhibit so many time the beachball.

I wouldn't use 5042! Many bugs were addressed between that and 5052... But it's essentially the same, except for java21 being introduced.

If you are syncing your data file with another device using iCloud Drive sync, we would recommend changing sync method.

Indeed as I am using Sonoma (macOS 14.1.1) disabling sync resolved the problem. I therefore give a try to 5052.

Still lots of beach balls - but I appreciate your efforts to cope with Apple's changes in Sonoma. I'm using MacOS 14.1.1 but syncing via icloud. I know you say use Dropbox but I left them sometime ago and don't want to go back. I know you will solve these issues - I can be patient.

Actually, best as anyone "here" can tell, Apple will need to solve a lot of these issues, and again, they probably will eventually.

I checked what "Activity Monitor" reported when I get a Beachball and it showed >> 100% CPU usage. Not sure how that can be but thats what it showed. I agree Apple has a basket load of issues with Sonoma, I'm Still waiting for fixes to audio issues, however they did fix the Touch id failures so can't complain too loudly.

I am just wondering if issues with Sonoma are impacting only Apple Silicon based machines or if it is also observed on Intel machines.

The only Sonoma issues have been to do with iCloud sync. It makes no difference if Silicone or not.

Hi - was just checking to see if iCloud syncing would work yet, and see that when I go thru the steps to set it up, the "show passphrase" still says the passphrase is for Dropbox (which I dropped several years ago). Just FYI.

I am running MD 2022 (4097) on a MacMini M1 Ventura 13.6. I have held off updating both the Mac OS and Moneydance until things settle out. It's probably beyond time for me to do that, but reading this thread regarding updating MD makes me still hesitant even though I have run preview releases of MD in the past.
I would appreciate any suggestions in this regard from others here. I do not Sync MD with any other device, just runs on the Mac Mini. And I don't use Moneydance +, just downloads using .qfx if available download direct or manually from www, or .csv/Import to MD.

It’s a little slow loading on my M2 (Sonoma 14.1.1), but works just fine once it loads. I’m looking forward to being able to sync again. I have’t had problems with anything else. Not using the + either, just the basic Moneydance - it’s all I need.

I have run the MD 2023 (5052) with MD+ on my MacMini M2 and Sonoma 14.1.1 with no problem - even syncing work OK. I would suggest you get at least up on the MacOS as there are several security updates.

2023.2(5057) is about to become 'stable'... If you do not sync, then I would say to load it up.....

Hmm. When I check on Moneydance it still says I have the latest version (MD 2023.1 5006). Maybe it’s the + that’s helping you? I’ll see what is available for download. Thanks!

Nope. There are no specific Sonoma fixes for MD in any MD version. Apple needs to address iCloud. IMHO

There has been one update to MacOS plus two bug fixes since the release of MacOS 14. but I don’t see any changes to iCloud in the release notes. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-14-release-notes. The release notes for 14.1 and 14.2 RC are also on this site.
