Catagories
How do I prevent Default catagories? Sometimes I do not use them. I do not need catagories. Trying this out before I switch from Quicken. Thanks

Moneydance is based on double entry accounting, categories are mandatory in order to comply with the rules of double entry.
You can always create a category say called "uncategorised" or "none" and set that as the default category.

The default category is part of the account attributes. Right click on the account, Edit Account, and you'll see the default category towards the bottom. You can set it to whatever you want but I don't think you can prevent them.

Thanks. I had done that and had no luck preventing it. Very annoying.
