Exporting/Importing Categories & Reports?

Is there any way to export these from one install and then import them into another install? I see I can export and import accounts, but not categories or reports.

I want to modify the categories and create reports for my parents install, but I don't want to sit at their house to do it.

If I start with a fresh install on a computer at my house, and then modify the list of categories and create specific reports, I don't see a way to export them to take to my parents and update their install with the modified category list and add the new report.

If I export their install, I could bring that home and update it, then return it. However, they would be unable to add any transactions until I bring the updated install back. I was hoping there was a way I could give them my modified list of categories and reports and replace their existing categories and add my reports.

If you are talking about importing into an existing data set, you can not do it with reports. In theory you could with categories but you will still have to assign the transactions to those categories which is where most of the work would be.

What Stuart is referring to would be to make a new empty data set with categories and reports from yours.

If I'm understanding the request correctly, another option could be to copy your dataset, then go into each account, select all of the transactions, and delete them. After doing this for all accounts, you should be left with your existing categories, account structure, and existing memorized reports, but no data.

    Ethan,

That is what Stuart's clone option in Toollbox can do.
