It is possible to track any sort of investment in Moneydance, what is it about these sort of investments that you are particularly concerned about?

I didn't see it specifically mentioned.

Here is my use case for the assets:
I have RRSP and DCPP in Canada and UK pensions (private and defined benefit)
How would you suggest these are entered?

    Maybe like this?
Add the opening balance plus regular contributions and then adjust the profit/loss when I get my annual statement or in some other way?

    Thanks

It is really up to you as to the approach to be taken

The way you describe is what you could use an Asset account to do, it will work perfectly well.

Another way is through an Investment account. A way I have done this is with an initial purchase of securities at 1.00 each with the total number being the amount of my investment. I enter a new price to reflect the change of value (monthly) and new contributions I enter using a calculated price - I set up a spreadsheet to do the calculations for me.

It all depends on what you want to show and how you want to do it. I can only suggest setting up a test file and trying what ever methods you want to.
