Recurring Entries
Hi, I am using MoneyDance 2024.2. I do not use on line connection to banks or credit cards, I do manual entries. I like to enter my recurring expenses up to a year in advance and always have to enter each one month by month. Is there a way in MD to enter a recurring expense one time and have the system duplicate it on a regular basis, other than just in the reminder section? When in the reminder, I still have enter it manually into the register.
Thanks, Dallas Hayden

Have you used the auto-commit x days before scheduled option in your created reminder?
They won't be in your transaction list a whole year into the future, but will be entered each month for you once you create the reminder with auto-commit.

No, I have not even known about auto-commit. I just tried it out and it and with a little practice it should do the trick. A couple of glitches such as some bills/revenue are not always on the same day (one income is last working day of the month rather than every 30 or 31 days, and there is always the February issue) but it will be close enough it should work. It will be great to not have to enter every transaction for every month. And, yes, it appears I can enter for automatic transaction entry 365 days in advance, so it will always be 1 year ahead of me. If some information changes, such as a recurring bill increases, I just have to change the amount one time. I haven’t tried yet to see if I change the amount in when it has hit the register, if that will change the amount in the reminder. Hope not. Thank you.

Once the reminder becomes a transaction, you can change either the date or the amount (or anything else) with no effect on the reminder itself. So if you have dates that can't be entered exactly correctly, you can adjust if necessary.
