Dear IK staff,
I have used your software since 2014, it is easy for me to keep track of and reconcile monthly expenses.

What file format do you recommend I use to upload my files. Some of my financial institutions offer Excel, QFX or comma delineated. I have been using the comma delineated. My bank offers Quickbooks, Quicken, and CVS files. And another institution offers QIF 2 and 4 digit, Web connect for Quicken 2018 and above, and Excel. It is confusing that there is not a universal download format.

Thanks for your help,
Sarah

Ofx is best. Qif is second best.

QFX is "basically" OFX. "Quicken" is also QFX/OFX.

The first choice is generally OFX/QFX, they are interchangeable, QFX is just OFX with a vendor specific section.

QIF would be the next choice, and is also the optimum choice, although not perfect, for migration purposes.

CSV is last on the list and if needed routinely for an institution the User written CSV importer considered as the import tool of choice.

    Hi Sarah,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

As our knowledgeable Moneydance customers have mentioned previously, you can download your data from your bank/s website using the OFX or QFX file format, if available. If not, use the QIF file format. (These files are sometimes referred to as Quicken or MS Money files). You can import the files to Moneydance using File --> Import.

The steps for manually importing your data are outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.
