How to deal with Credit Card Transactions
I have used your app for years and really like it. At the moment, I use just one NatWest credit card and pay it in full each month. I download the credit card statement each month, manually analyse the transactions, and then enter them using the Split facility in your app. Do you have suggestions for a better way to do this?
Thanks for all your help over the years.
Best wishes.
Roy

Create a credit card account… https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/accounts-and-categories/creat...
Use that to enter your credit card charges as negative amounts. When the time comes to pay the monthly bill, create a payment in the paying account to the credit card ..Mastercard, or whatever, and categorise it as the credit card account you created in Moneydance. That will transfer the money into the credit card account and reduce / wipe out the negative balance.

As Tony said the Credit card is an actual account, you get a statement for it each month after all, so set it up as an account in its own right and manage it as such.
Generally trying to integrate it into a bank account and managing it by using split transactions is difficult and far more time consuming and is not how it works in the real world.

I greatly appreciate the email support. I have now changed to getting all credit card transactions on a credit card account. I have used the split transaction method for years, and now that I have spent a couple of hours changing to this new procedure, I am DELIGHTED. It will save me a huge amount of time and give me a clear day-to-day picture. My wife and I buy the items not covered by DD on our credit card and then pay in full each month. I should have done this years ago!
Thanks again. Great company, great customer service, top marks for attention to detail and going the extra mile!
Roy

You are welcome, not Customer Support, just members of the User Forum.

My apologies, Tony. You have been a great help. I was not aware of the user forum, but I will know whose door to knock on in future. A very big thank you.
