Mobile App Description field auto complete

When I enter a new transaction on the mobile app I get a list of auto complete suggestions. Some of the suggestions are no longer applicable. How can I remove auto complete suggestions for the Description field?

    Hi Glyn,
    Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

    You can’t manually delete individual autocomplete suggestions on the Android app, but you can remove them by deleting/editing the transactions they come from. The autocomplete list is generated from the descriptions of past transactions in the synced data file.

    If a suggestion is no longer relevant, the only way to remove it is to locate the original transaction (on desktop or mobile) and delete or edit it. Once that transaction is gone, the autocomplete entry will eventually disappear after the next sync.

    If I find and delete the transactions will that affect current balances?

    Yes it will.
    If the transactions are valid and part of your account history, then editing it (rather than deleting it) is the safer option. The autocomplete list is built from past descriptions, so once the transaction is edited or removed and everything syncs, the unwanted suggestion will eventually disappear.

    If you’re unsure whether a transaction is still needed, it’s best to review the account balance first or simply edit the description instead of deleting the whole entry.


    Moneydance contains a feature called "Batch Change", which allows you to make changes to a single transaction, or multiple transactions at once.

    Batch Change allows you to make changes to the Description, Date, Check#, Memo, Tags, Category, and Account fields in the register.

    For further details about this function, please refer to this article in the Knowledge Base.

    When using the Batch Change option, the accounts list will show only accounts containing the same currency as the account you want to move transactions from.
