How do I split a transaction between two expense accounts or between a payment and a deposit account in a single transaction? Commonly called a split transaction

    Hi Sathish

When editing or entering a new transaction look at the top of the category selector list, there is a button called "Split..." If you click it it will bring up a split entry window.

    Sincerely

    Hi Ben:

I do not see any button called split on top of category selector. There is just the Menu bar! Perhaps you can send me a screen shot!

    Thanks

if you click the arrows at the right of the category box, you will bring up the split transaction function. It is the button at the top above the category choices. Once you click on that, and then click on new split over and over until you're done, you will be able to split your transaction into its constituent parts.

Attached you will find a screen shot of a dummy account showing the split transaction button.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

I am using the Mac OS version, and my interface looks different than that. I have no split option once I add the transaction. I can add the split when adding a new transaction however.

    Thomas,

You may split an already added transaction simply by clicking on the up/down arrows of the category column. This brings up the list of categories with the split button at the top.

    Sincerely,

    Brian

I don't have the split button. Using Mac OS X 10.5.7, Money Dance 2008r4(640), and Java 1.6.0-13

Resolved. Under the main check register, if the new tranaction window is active at the bottom, the up/down arrows are disable. I closed the bottom new transaction window and the split button appeared. Thanks
