Moneydance does not work like that, to do so would likely irretrievably destroy investment type data.

The software takes a different approach by providing filters along the top of the transaction registers that can be used to restrict the amount of data you see in these views. The other avenue to see a restricted amount of data is through the various reports that Moneydance provides.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480248182020-03-02T18:13:31Z2020-03-02T18:13:32ZStarting new year with all accounts having a zero balance

I have all my entries in for the year and want a report showing income and
Expenses for the year. I get a report up but it starts with March instead of January. I can’t find a way to get January 1 to December 31, 2019. Can you help?

Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

From Income and Expenses, Detailed, click on Edit and select custom dates and flag the items you wish to include in your report, and click Generate (at the bottom, right).

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

Maddy provided instructions for how to do this in her last post. Can you explain what you are having trouble with in those instructions? Open the report by clicking on it in your left sidebar, and then click on the Edit button towards the upper right of the report, and change the settings.

Category Income /Expenses - Last 12 Months
It shows Apr 2019 through Mar 2020 then overall.
I want a report for Jan 2019 to Dec 2019.
When the report comes on screen “Edit” does not appear anywhere.
I know this seems like a simple thing, but it just annoys me I can’t generate the report I want, when I know it’s there somewhere.
