Hi Geoff

Its my understanding if you enter your existing key into the Upgrading box at https://infinitekind.com/purchase you should get a 50% discount on 2019 downloaded from https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

I don’t think there was a 2009 version, are you sure that’s what you have?

Moving you data from 2011 or earlier to 2019 should be OK if you follow this https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/purchasing-and-upgrading/upgr...
This also applies to 2019 as well as 2017.

Make sure you have a copy of your data in a safe place before you start in case something goes wrong.

If you do have problems you may have to upgrade from each version one at a time. Older versions can be found at https://infinitekind.com/previous-versions-of-moneydance
You can do this in each versions trial mode, no new key needed. If you have to upgrade this way also see https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/purchasing-and-upgrading/upgr...

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480843282020-02-12T20:14:01Z2020-02-12T20:14:01ZUpgrading moneydance and changing to macbook

I'm a fellow user.

What you download each time with Moneydance is a full version, there are no "upgrade" versions like some vendors use.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480843282020-05-13T19:56:54Z2020-05-13T19:56:54ZUpgrading moneydance and changing to macbook

Hello again
I am back on this thread now that lockdown is giving me time to really get my head into this and make it happen.
So turns out I have 20008 version. I have also seen support advice that says I should install the same version on my Macbook, transfer the data and get it running and then upgrade from there.
So I just tried to download the 2008 version "Mac OS10.3 or higher"
I got a message saying that I needed to install "Legacy JAVA SE6 runtime" which I have done
Then I tried to run the application and next message says "Moneydance is damaged and cannot be opened. Move to trash?" Cant get past this one.
Anyone familiar with this problem and know how to proceed?
Thanks, Geoff

Geofftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480843282020-05-13T21:13:31Z2020-05-13T21:13:31ZUpgrading moneydance and changing to macbook

I'm a fellow user.

The preference to initially install the same version generally works well. However MacOS has shown itself to be problematic at times with the need to use specific minimum versions of Moneydance. This has been especially noticeable with the latest release - Catalina (10.15.x) which has a minimum requirement of Moneydance 2019.3 and will give errors like you describe with early releases.

If you do not have access to any other computers, then you will need to try an upgrade directly from 2008 to 2019.

Copy your data file from the old to the new computer and then do the upgrade of the data file, you can gain an appreciation of the steps in:

https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/purchasing-and-upgrading/upgr...

The article is about doing the upgrade on the same computer but you should get the general idea.

With a test data set I have tried an upgrade from many versions of Moneydance back to the 2008 release and it did work.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/480843282020-05-17T08:38:32Z2020-05-17T08:38:33ZUpgrading moneydance and changing to macbook

Thanks dwg

I did as you said and it all worked fine. The data conversion was no issue and everything looks good and in place. Lots to learn within the new version whilst still in lockdown.
Thanks for your advice,
