From what you describe, it sounds like you may not be going through the confirmation process after you download or import your data. Downloaded transactions should have a blue dot next to them in the description field. Clicking on a transaction with a blue dot should open a right sidebar with confirmation options. If the transaction is similar to one you have already manually entered, or downloaded from another account and confirmed, one of the options should be to merge those transactions. This should maintain those categories from the initial transaction. More details on the confirmation process with screenshots can be found at http://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/co...

I always confirm my transactions so that is not the cause. The transfers do not duplicate on the other accounts, only on the line of credit. Weird!

That is weird. Let's make sure I'm understanding you correctly. When you download activity from your line of credit account, if any of those transactions were transfers, you should initially see a duplicate transfer transaction, since you're now getting that transaction information from the 'other side' of the initial one (your line of credit account now instead of your regular bank account). But you're saying that you can't merge this new duplicate with the existing transaction? Or that there's an additional duplicate beyond the one I'm referring to?

Thanks for trying to get to the bottom of this. All my accounts balance with all transfers showing on each account correctly. Now I download transactions from my bank and this is when it happens but only to the line of credit. Duplications show with the unconfirmed blue dot and they all have a category of expenses instead of the other account which was involved with the transfer. The original is still there showing the correct transfer and confirmed. As a result my final balance is way out and I have to delete all the duplicates.Sorry I misled you earlier as to the category being expenses, car.
thanks Barb
Later today I will take screen shots of what is happening for you. This only started after I upgraded to the most recent Moneydance nd it only happens on the line of credit, not any of the other accounts.I am thinking I will have to start a new account.

Barb Urquharttag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481270862020-02-29T17:30:13Z2020-02-29T17:30:13Zproblem with transfers from one account to another after importing into line of credit

Hello Barb,

Ok, thanks. The screenshots would be helpful, so send those when you have a chance. Your explanation does clear things up a bit, but it still seems like you should be able to select this newly downloaded transaction that has a blue dot next to it, and choose to merge it with the existing correct and confirmed transfer. Maybe the screenshots will help clear this up. I'm not sure why this wouldn't be working for just one account.

I believe the merge worked. I merged them and then downloaded from the bank ( although there was nothing to download it still sent out a qfx file). This time no problem with duplications.
I’ll have to wait till there is something to download to make sure but hopefull it is fixed.
Thank you so much.

Barb Urquharttag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481270862020-02-29T21:34:59Z2020-02-29T21:34:59Zproblem with transfers from one account to another after importing into line of credit

Hi Barb,

That's great to hear. That's how it sounds like it should be working. I'll close this thread for now, but feel free to respond and reopen it if the problem reappears after your next download.
