I have a MoneyDance 2019 file that I set up on a Mac, with all the Accounts, Categories, etc I need. I want to move to a PC and wondering how I can use the same datafile without needing to recreate everything.

Is there a way to do this that's not too complicated?

Thanks,

Bryan

    Hello Bryan,

We have detailed instructions on moving to another computer at: https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/mo...

Moneydance data files are completely the same, regardless of operating system. The main thing is the make sure you have the same version of Moneydance installed on each system.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

So, are you saying I can download the SAME VERSION of Moneydance for a PC as I'm currently using on my Mac?

I had already read those instructions you linked to and could find nothing in there about moving from a Mac to a PC platform. In fact, I recall it saying distinctly to make sure to use the same version of Moneydance when moving to a new computer. I'm just not sure if I can do that when moving from a Mac to a PC.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

    Hello Bryan,

Yes, download the same version, meaning if you are using Moneydance 2019 on one system, make sure to install the 2019 version on the other system, as opposed to some other year. The rest of the instructions are exactly the same. Again, Moneydance data files are completely the same, regardless of which operating system you are using.
