You're correct that Moneydance cannot currently run on ARM processors. This is due to there not being a version of Java that works with those processors, and Moneydance is based on Java.

However, I've spoken to our lead developer about this, and he thinks that this situation with Apple switching to ARM is actually really good. This is because with this change, Apple has said that they are contributing ARM support to the OpenJDK project which is all we need to have an ARM version of Moneydance running at top performance. He also has an ARM Mac mini on it's way now to him for testing. He also believes that Moneydance will work in emulation mode on those systems, but that shouldn't be necessary as long as the OpenJDK development continues as stated.

In short, Moneydance is still dependent on these other things, but it looks like the pieces are falling into place for these things to happen.

testing (I’m jealous). Appreciate the quick response. Thanks very much.

brad.mcneelytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484284432020-06-27T19:12:48Z2020-06-27T19:12:48ZMoneydance and new ARM-based Macs

You're welcome. I'm trying not to be jealous myself, but he needs it more than me.
