It depends on a few factors
- Institutions often provide downloads in the form of OFX/QFX or QIF files.
- If you are in the U.S. your institution may support the Direct Connect protocol enabling you to get automatic downloads.
- If in North America the aggregator that Moneydance uses (as an extra paid for service) may provide for automatic downloads.
Fidelity are a problem see the following thread for what is happening there in terms of the problem, what Moneydance is trying to do to regain access, and a user created extension to import CSV files with investment information in them:
