on setup, do you have to manually add each security you own?
I have several brokerage accounts with many, many securities. It does not seem that, even with a download from my brokerage, that Moneydance is importing the securities I own, but says there are no securities associated with the accounts. Does this mean I have to add each one manually? That would be several days of work.

The online connection is limited to the most recent transactions. This varies and is determined by your broker.
What you may try is to see if your broker's website allow for transaction history download in QIF or QFX format. These can be imported into your investment account.
If your broker allows for a spreadsheet format download this too can be imported into MD but needs a little more prep.
If your broker does not allow for transaction history download, the only option is a manual input.
