depending on how the monies where handled and where they went
to.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/410236612016-10-19T22:30:29Z2016-10-19T22:30:29ZRecording a stock dividend?

Was this a qif or ofx import, or online download? Which
institution did this transaction come from.

Was this a reinvested dividend?

You can see how the transaction was coded by right clicking on
the transaction and selecting show details.

The dividend was reinvested.

a BuyXfr?

If it did then changing the BuyXfr to a Buy may correct the

It seems that I might record it as a divreinvest wit a zero
cost.

details. You can scroll through and see how they coded the
transaction. I have attached a screen shot to illustrate part of a
div reinvest transaction.

The only thing I can think of is if from Merill's POV the
dividend is captured outside of this account and then used to buy
the security. If you open up the transaction details and the
transaction is recorded as a xfer is would show this.

DWG is correct that the divreinv transaction should be with the
total of the dividend as cost basis is adjusted by the dividend
reinvest.
