treating these as sell at cost basis then buy at cost basis. If an
automated feature was created it would basically be doing this
behind the scenes.

work with how every financial institution does it. Unless you

shown as one single transaction.

mbclpublictag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/412536172016-12-02T15:47:04Z2016-12-02T15:47:04ZStock Exchange/Conversion

One of the brokers I use shows it as a "shares out" then "shares

I believe the developers need to rethink their position on this
issue.

Many company acquisition situations in my country use a stock
for stock transaction, and for capital gains purposes you may be
deemed to have purchased the new stock at the same time as your
old, hence the stock swap is at the original purchases date. There
is no sale and no purchase it is a stock swap on a defined
basis.

Under the current situation you would have to divest all of your
old stocks at the original dates and price, so lot by lot, and
reenter new transactions at the same original dates for the
replacement stock lot by lot.

Computers are supposed to make for less work, this method does
not achieve that.

that I am in.
Had stock exchanged (even though it was a mutual fund) into another
stock
and my cost basis is now all messed up.
