Changing Firms
How do I move my securities from one account to another? I just changed firms and created five new accounts and need to move the securities from the old accounts to the new accounts.

Hi cwdavis,
If you are moving all accounts and all securities to a new firm, then if I may make a suggestion, simply change the particulars of the account(s) in Moneydance to reflect those of the new firm.
You will, of course, need to re-run the setup routine for online banking so as to connect to the new establishment. (if applicable)
I would make some annotation in the 'Comments' section of each account as to the date of the transfer. Menu bar > Account > Edit Account > 'Comments'.

Hi
I tend to agree with Kevin here. If you are moving everything from one firm to another than simply changing the account details is the simplest course of action.
If you want to move a single security to another account you need to enter a SellXfr in the source account at the original purchase price, selecting the destination account in the "Transfer" field. Then in the destination account enter a Buy at the same price.

Thanks. I was hoping that I could do a transfer of each security to the new firm and then would have a record of the prior firm.
I knew that I could just change the name and investment firm details to the new firm.
I appreciate your help.
