Can someone explain what MD is doing?
Dec. 1, 2016 BuyXfr 100 Shares of ABC stock at $10/share
Dec 7, 2016 Reinvest Dividend of 1 share priced at $10.50
Dec 17, 2016 SellXfr all 101 shares at 11.00

1. I cannot enter the sell price of $11.00. The program calculates the sell price as 0.1039604
2. The Capital Gains report shows a capital loss of $1000. It should be showing a short-term gain of about $100.
Is this some new form of accounting?

    Hi John,

    Moneydance 2017.1 (1593)
    Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I can not reproduce the behavior that you are describing.

I tend to let Moneydance calculate the Price per share, as it is more important that the Shares and the Amount of the txn are accurate in their respective values.

Try zeroing out all of the values in the SellXfr txn. Then enter the Shares, then the Amount. Let MD calculate the Price.

I did a test recently for another user problem and found the only reliable way to enter transactions was to at least enter the following fields:

    1. Total amount
    2. Fee amount
    3. Number of shares

This should be cleared up by updating to the most current build 1597.

You can do that from here: http://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

issue is still there on my side with 1597: http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/1401-buy-transactions-dont-update-security-prices#comment_41698151

I now wonder whether this issue is due to "tabbing through" fields that the user does not enter: i.e. to enter #shares, price per share, fee, I have to tab-trough "Amount".

Keyboard entry is a must feature of MD.

Was the share price field set at $11 or the transaction total field?

Can you please send a screen shot of your securities detail window for this security.
