Security Subtypes

Hi, during the beta development of 2017 I found a bug which I reported to Sean on your Slack site.
Sean fixed this bug and it works correctly in the released build 2017.2(1597).

However somewhere between 1597 and preview build 1610 the bug has come back.
In investments ‘Securities Detail’ window under the tab ‘Edit Security’ there is a drop down ‘Subtype’. By using the ‘Edit’ button you can add Subtypes. However on closing and reopening moneydance the list return to being blank and the security losses the subtype what was just set.

However in the ‘Asset Allocation’ report subtypes are still shown, so they are not lost completely. Is there a way to get them back into the list without entering them each time the program is started?.

As an aside is the slack site #moneydance2017beta Slack channel as listed in one of your Blogs now closed?

I see the same - now using mac version 1615. In addition, the console window shows the following typical error a number of times - I assume once for each security I have:

unrecognised item type: mod.secsubtypes; item:com.infinitekind.moneydance.model.MoneydanceSyncableItem@[code, different for each error listed]

The problem still exists in preview build 1618. Come on support, Sean get this fixed. Sean you did a great job fixing the bug the first time it occurred, in double quick time, do it again.

    Thanks

Adding to thread for notification. There are a lot of things to fix while waiting for Java to be able to print.... :-)

This issue still exist in 2017.4 (1624).
The first time this bug was introduced with a build update Sean fixed it very quickly. Can support bring Sean attention to the fact that the bug is back so he can do the same again.

    Thanks

    Hi Derek,

Thanks for bringing this bug back to our attention, please accept my apologies for the lack of contact on this discussion. I have raised this Sean and he has indicated that this shouldn't be difficult to implement. As always, I am unable to provide a timescale for the this but it is definitely on Sean's radar and has confirmed he will be looking into replicating and resolving this issue.

I'll be sure to let you know if there is any further information but hopefully when this change has been made and the issue resolved.

Is there any ETA when this will be fixed? It's still in the latest preview build.

I'm almost ready to buy a license, but I really need this feature to be working.

I was taking to Sean (lead software developer) on another issue today and took the opportunity to mention the sub-type bug.

So fingers crossed it’s on his radar.

A security sub-type actually works and is retained between MD launches - it just does not show in the sub-type menu. You can see this on an "asset allocation" pie graph (in the reports menu).

I have been using MD long enough that I now remember my sub-types so can type one in that is the same as those I have used before. But, it would be nice to have the sub-type window disappearance bug fixed for good.

It looks like Sean has fixed the Security Sub-Type issue. Newly added Security Sub-Types are now available in the Edit Security window dropdown after Moneydance is reopened.
Thanks Sean for your efforts on this.
Fix is in the latest preview version at https://infinitekind.com/preview

Indeed, the new (1628 for mac) build picked up, and is holding between launches, the sub-types I have in my db.
