Securities Details Page Column Widths

I've seen that others have brought up the fact that the Column Widths in the Securities Details page are too narrow in the last year. Every time I come to this page, I have to manually widen the columns to be able to see the information. That gets very annoying. The page should automatically scale to fit the data and at the very least remember what the settings were the last time the user uses it. Is this on the "to be fixed" list anytime soon?

Thanks

    Hi jsteffen2005,

I'm one of the users who have requested that this issue be looked into.
    http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/suggestions/9842-securitie...

Unfortunately, this very valid suggestion gets issued a ticket number (#5108), the 'System' (Tender) eventually closes the thread, marks the thread as 'Resolved' and the whole matter falls into the abyss.

I hate that. There needs to be a way to track suggestions like this so we know if they are even being looked at. Or a way for people to mark them as important to them so MoneyDance programmers know which features people want improved. This seems like it should be a very easy fix that makes the software less annoying. For the most part, I have been very happy with MoneyDance and their support though is isn't as "polished" as Quickend in some areas. This is one of those places where the differences between the two products shows up.

Hopefully, they will listen this time.

    Hi Jason,

As Kevin has already indicated, we do have an open ticket regarding this change. I will attach it to this discussion so you are notified when the change has been made.

I raised this with our lead developer and he has indicated that this shouldn't be difficult to implement and will be looking into making this change. I am unable to supply a timeline for this but I can say that it most definitely is back on our radar.

Please accept my apologies for the lack of response you have had on this discussion thus far. I'll ensure that you are informed when Moneydance has the ability to retain column widths on the Security Details .

    Ian and Kevin

Thank you for responding. I also work for support in a software company. One of the things I have learned when dealing with customers is that most do not say anything if they run into problems or have features they want to add. They simply plow through things and either find a work around, or worse yet, give up on it and go to another product. That said, the customers that take the time to make comments, share suggestions, etc. are usually just the tip of the ice berg. The things they ask for are generally "problems" for others that don't take the time to make any comments.

I used Quicken for many years prior to making the switch to Moneydance around 5 years. ago. For the most part I have no complaints about doing that. There are a few little "rough" spots where Moneydance isn't as well polished as Quicken was, in some places it is better, but in most cases, it works very well. When you have a good product, it starts to come down to the little things that make day to day operations easier for the user. When we run into these little "annoyances" on a daily basis, it would be nice to have them fixed.

I am hopeful that the recommendations I provide to improve can be incorporated into Moneydance so my experience is even better in the future.

    Thanks

    Jason

    Hi,

I would like to second the request for fixing the securities detail column widths. It's difficult to use the securities detail window because the columns are impossible to read.

    Hi All,

Column widths in the Securities Detail table are now remembered in the latest preview build (currently 2017.6 1648)
