Can't buy security

I show a cash amount in a brokerage account. I am trying to buy a security. The New Transaction (Action) allows all the normal choices, but when I move to the next column the (Action) column defaults to Xfr. This is getting very annoying!

There are only two other entries in this account, both are Xfr's from another account. Regardless of what action I try to choose the register continues to default to Xfr.

    Hi stepperheimer,

It sounds like you may not have yet added any securities to your investment account thus the 'Action' column defaults to 'Xfr'.

Take a look at the following Moneydance KB article related to adding investments.
    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/investment-accounts/adding-securities

Adding investments is a 3 part process.
    1) Add the security to Moneydance.
    2) Add the security to a particular investment account.
    3) Enter a Buy txn for the security.

Be sure not to add more than one instance of a security to Moneydance even if it's held in more than one investment account.

When creating the security, be sure to set the 'Decimal' field value to the same number of decimals that your broker uses. This value can not be changed later.
