Securities Detail graph
MD now plots purchases and dividends on the "Securities Detail" graph. Purchases display properly, although I'd prefer a brighter color. However, dividends do not. Two problems:
* They display an arbitrary price ($100) which I cannot edit in the register (a separate problem). This is merely an annoyance.
* Worse, when I hover the cursor over the icon (a little circle with a plus sign inside), the popup window that appears contains nonsense, typically: "? 0.00 @ $100" (see attachment). (Note: The purchase popup displays correctly.)
These two behaviors together render the feature worse than useless – it merely adds clutter to the graph.
I am not sure of the purpose of this addition to the graph. Security transactions are already listed in tabular form (more usefule to me).
Should I post the problem of the arbitrary security price in dividend transactions as a separate discussion?

Hi Jon,
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay getting back to you. I’m afraid that your request for assistance was missed by the support team, and it’s only now we’ve been able to work through the backlog of older discussions.
Which version and build are you using?
To find them, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Thank you!
Please try the following:
Make a manual backup by navigating to File > Export Backup
then upgrade to the latest preview release of Moneydance from here:
https://infinitekind.com/preview
and if the issue persists then Open the Security Detail view and click on History, there choose to clear all then click on Import and select Import from transactions.
Please let me know how went.

Hi,
* I see the same behavior with the preview: version 2017.6 build 1644.
* After clearing history and importing from transactions, I see
something similar (without most price history, of course).
See the attached screen capture. The purchases display properly,
but the dividends (a bit sporadic) display at $50 or $100, and
the popup is gibberish.

Have you had a chance to look further into this issue?
I append my previous email (sent 10/13/2017).

Thanks. Not an urgent issue.

I received a response from our lead developer and I need to check if the issue lies with dividend reinvestments or just regular dividends.

I see it only on regular dividends (Action = DivXfr) not reinvestments (Action = DivReinvest). The reinvestment transactions display as “Buy” in the Securities Detail graph popup, and the displayed numbers are correct.

Hi Jon,
Thank you for the additional detail, the lead developer stated that regular dividends
don't have a price associated with the transaction (because no shares were exchanged), so the graph should not show those, currently the graph is displaying place markers with no real input that doesn't influence any reports.

Thanks. I’d be happy to see dividend markers disappear.
Less important:
* Get rid of the reinvestment markers also.
* Change the color of the Buy markers to make them more visible.
The historical price graph is the important feature. The less embellishment, the better.
An enhancement request, useful when there are reinvested dividends:
* Enable graphing of total value (price*#shares). That tells me the total performance.
Thanks for your help,
Jon

Henry,
I regard the securities download issue to be much more important than the cosmetic issue with security history graphs. So, don’t worry if you need to delay dealing with my problem.
I’ll bug you again later. ;)

Now that the Security price update problem has died down, do you have time to return to my (admittedly small) issue?

Do you currently have 2017.6 build 1656?
If yes than would it be possible to get an updated screenshot with build 1656 of the sporadic markers.

I have build 1656. I attach a screenshot that shows both the misplaced symbols and the erroneous popup data. Cash dividends only, no purchases or reinvestments.

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
I have added it to the bug ticket so the developers will be looking into it.
