There is a beta version of the Q & ER extension out from Sean the lead software developer which uses Alpha Vantage instead of Yahoo. See https://infinitekind.com/tmp/yahooqt.mxt Remove the old extension and install the new one. Make sure it ends in “.mxt” not “.zip after you download it. Edit zip if required. You must also be running the latest preview build of 2017 downloaded from https://infinitekind.com/preview
You will be asked to get and enter an Alpha Vantage Key when you first open the extension.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/441975822017-12-04T00:37:56Z2017-12-04T00:37:56ZUpdating Market Prices

Unfortunately Yahoo has turned off their price/rate downloading to third party apps. Our lead developer is working on a solution now and we hope to have an update available for the extension very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. I have flagged this discussion so we can notify you as soon as this has been resolved and the update is available.

As Derek states there is a beta version of the extension with a new quote provider. If you are uncomfortable using the beta, we are hoping to go live with a stable version soon.

Thank you for your response. I upgraded to a newer version and was not pleased initially. After working with it, I have found it to be a bit of an improvement. All the visuals, bells, and whistles of some well known software only cause more computer work. Moneydance's simplicity was why I purchased it initially. Thanks again,

On a related theme I've noticed a couple of python scripts for bringing down and loading prices from AlphaVantage, does using scripting also require the security certificates?

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/441975822017-12-05T11:10:06Z2017-12-05T11:10:08ZUpdating Market Prices

Unfortunately the process indicated:

At the moment I don't think there is a way to change a entered key. I think it is stored within your data set. I have posted on Sean's Slack channels suggesting he adds a reset button so a new key can be entered. Until he does, I think you are stuck. Unless you have a backup you can restore, a backup before you added the key.
If you post the name and symbol and exchange of say three sectaries I can test them for you.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/441975822017-12-05T13:24:15Z2017-12-05T13:24:16ZUpdating Market Prices

Thank you Derek. Since I am new to MD, I only had a file with very little
If you can test symbol market : EURONEXT-PARIS like RNO, ALO, RMS, LVMH
And I can not find in: Extensions Management list he name of the extension "STOCK QUOTE SYNCHRONIZER" contained in "yahooqt.mxt" ..
thank you

ed delettag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/441975822017-12-05T15:22:56Z2017-12-05T15:22:56ZUpdating Market Prices

I am not support staff, just a user.

Under EXTENSIONS _EXTENSION MANAGER the version of Q & ER should be v007.
When I run Q & ER I get the following results
RNO returned €85.31, ALO €34.34, RMS €435.7 however it did not return any data for LVMH all set for Exchange Euronext – Paris.

There is a third party standalone tool into which you can enter a list of symbols and it returns the current Quote Prices. Once entered they are remembered for the next time. This tool works on UK funds stocks and other European Securities. See screen shot for the results of your securities.
This is great for me as I hold mainly UK funds that are in the main not supported by Alpha Vantage. This tool is still at the beta stage of development, but works. You can then export as a CSV file containing all the prices. The only thing is you to need to have java loaded on your computer, as it is a java program. But that was not a problem download from java.com Official Site.
You can then use the Security Price Loader extension from Mike Bray to import the data into Moneydance.

If you won’t more information on this tool just post.

Yes, install the item in your screen shot. It has just been updated to include a way to retrieve an entered Alpha Vantage key. Now v008

The best and tried/true way of doing this is to File-> Export Backup to
a common directory on the first computer (one that you can move to the
new computer or share*). Once you move the file to the new computer,
important that you rename it to what you want the data to be (and not
the archive name). Locate the file on the drive that you feel most
comfortable with.

Note. It has a habit of building the directory of files for MD as a
subdirectory. This way you could have multiple versions of your data
depending on when you did the export/import. Typically, I build my
directory structure as --
1st level (off of root (or C: drive) as Finances
2nd level as Finances+Finance Data (+ indicates the slash is different
for Linux vs. Windows vs. Mac) for your data
Finances+MoneyDance-20xx for all of the software including any special extensions
Finances+Backup for the back copy of the export. The backup copies of the data always goes on a separate drive from C or
root, like a thumb drive....you never know!
3rd level as Finances+Finance Data+name and version is the directory
that will be created when you import the backup.

On the 2nd computer, do a File->Import from Backup (it might take a
couple of minutes depending on the amount of data. You will need to
re-enter your product key. The IK license terms are very friendly, but
you should read them.

*If you put it on a share, you should delete it (really erase it) since the file is not password protected.

Hope this helps. (I have been doing this for years across any number of
computers and OS's)
