Stock prices were downloaded with wrong multiplier, and overwrotedata since August! Every download seems to be different multiplier.
This is just strange.

Quotes and Exchange Rate updater v1012
Changed to Alphavantage early December - appeared to be working fine apart from one stock.
Just updated all the stocks today, to find my net worth had soared to sky-high levels. Sadly an illusion. The Q&ERU had multiplied about half my stocks by 100. Not only that, but previously updated stocks had their history changed back to August 2017.
I have gone through each one and deleted the erroneous data, then gone into the Updater tool, right clicked and yes, every single one of them had the correct 0.01 multiplier already showing. I have changed nothing, re-downloaded the prices and they are all correct. Net Worth sadly collapsed again.
This makes no sense whatsoever.

WHAT IS GOING ON!
I have just been entering prices to match statements from my broker, and find that one of the shares has suddenly multiplied itself by 0.01, having been correct before. So I deleted those erroneous figures, corrected the multiplier, and set the whole portfolio to download again.
ALL THE OTHER SHARES have now got a 1x multiplier applied to them. Yesterday they were correct. Worse, they have all OVERWRITTEN all of the data back to August .
So I changed that one to be pence, and redownloaded. That one was still wrong, but the others were now overwritten with the correct data.
I changed that one back to pounds, and the multiplier shows as 0.01. Now they download correctly.
How can I get this to work correctly ALL of the time, not just when it feels like it?
Surely it should not overwrite previous data? This seems a VERY bad thing to be able to do.

You are not the only one with this problem. See this tread starting at post 9 http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/problems/40198-stock-price.... I have stopped using the Q & ER extension and am now using a standalone free program to generate quotes. It’s consistent and reliable. And has a far better coverage of UK funds.

Thanks Derek. I shall try that out. I guess that means showing the Moneydance extension to update currencies, and the program for prices.

I am about to release the next beta version from the developer. It includes among other things the ability to obtain specified exchange rates, as well as Security quotes and import them into Moneydance. I think I will start a thread in the “Investment” section so I can direct interested user to one thread. So, keep a look out.
