Hi Sandy,
There are a few Moneydance KB articles relating to importing data here:

I want to enter manually because there is WAAAY too much history there! I figured that out, but now I would like to know if there is a way to update market value like Quicken does? I sure don't want to have to do this manually!
Thanks.

Hi Sandy,
I'll have to assume that you are using MD 2017.6 (1656) If not let me know what version it is that you are using. Menu bar > Help > About Moneydance. (For Macs, 'About Moneydance' may be listed under a 'Moneydance' menu item.)
If you haven't done so already, install v.1012 of the Quotes and Exchange Rates updater extension. (Menu bar > Extensions > Manage Extensions > Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater > install v.1012)
When you install the Q&ER updater, you will be prompted for a free, API key from AlphaVantage and provided with a field to enter it.
Once installed with the API key, make sure to set the drop-down lists in the Q&ER updater to 'AlphaVantage'.

Hi Sandy --
There are a couple of different ways of doing this, all of which have
been discussed on the forum (and the words are shamelessly copied from
posts by other very helpful and knowledgeable users, I just needed to
summarize multiple posts).
(1) Both Yahoo and Google have shut down their free API which Moneydance
used to obtain quotes and exchange rates.
Moneydance is now using a new source Alpha Vantage. However, to use the
new Quote and exchange rate extension v012 you will need to upgrade to
the latest release of Moneydance 2017 from
https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software
This works pretty well from the postings but you need to understand that
it is a free service, aka, a bit slow and may not be always correct.
(2) Yahoo still has a free service that lets you load the ticker of the
stocks and mutual funds, and will show you the latest price. Only a
daily basis, you can "export" the prices to a csv file, and use the
security price loader extension. This is a two-step manual approach (one
to go to the Yahoo biz site and "export" quote.csv file, and two to
start the extension and perform the securities load). I prefer it
because I can preview the prices prior to loading it into MD.
(3) Some users have success using hleofxquote's free tool for stock
quotes. It's one of the alternate workarounds. What it involves is a
one-time setup of entering your ticker symbols, downloading your quotes
and saving the results as a QIF file which you then import into
Moneydance. It requires Java so you'll also need to install that if you
don't already have it installed. If you're interested, you can get the
hleOfxQuotes-gui-Build_20171207_165.zip file here - Click the 'Download'
button

I posted a screenshot of the tool here:

The drawback is that it is very MS oriented. I am not sure how it would
work on a MAC. (i am working on a LINUX version, when I get some spare
cycles).

The hleOfxQuotes works every well.
Like Moneydance its a Java program. I run it on a Windows PC but I understand the Developer user a Mac.
Hope this helps.

For anyone who is interested take a look at this thread on a third-party Quote and Exchange Rate Program from hleofxquotes.

Hope this helps.
