Alpha Vantage Security Price Updates
I'm running Moneydance 2017.6 (1656) and have been using Alpha Vantage for security pricing updates for a little over a month. While it updates some prices correctly, about half of my securities are skipped or not updated due to error (see attached screen shot). Previously with Yahoo I had a few exotic securities that I had to update manually, but now common stocks such as Boeing, Walmart, Duke Power, etc don't get updated. Any suggestions anybody? Putting in dozens of prices manually is not really progress, is it?
Thanks, everybody, and happy and prosperous New Year.

Yes, I am having the same problems. I have a couple of mutual funds (e.g. AEPGX) that used to get price updates until I switched to Alpha Vantage.

Hi All,
There's a free tool created by forum member hleofxquote that downloads quotes from Yahoo Finance and the Financial Times.
It creates a QIF file that you manually import into Moneydance.
It requires Java, so you'll need to install that, if you don't already have it.
It also requires a one-time entry of all of your ticker symbols.
If you're interested, here is the link to the tool.
https://github.com/hleofxquotes/hleofxquotes/tree/master/dist
There's a README there that you should look through.
Click on the hleOfxQuotes-gui-Build_20180103_172.zip link, then click the 'Download' button. Unzip the file.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Sam & Tom
I am a UK investor and have found that Alpha Vantage provide very poor support for UK/Irish/Luxenberg etc, domiciled funds. I have remove the Q & ER extension as I was also getting inaccurate data messing up the price history for some of the securities it could find data on.
I am currently using a stand-alone program that was originally developed to help out users of MS Money when Microsoft stopped supporting that product. The developer is in the beta stages of adapting it to work with Moneydance. When I say beta, this build as far as I can see is very stable and the quotes very consistent. It has a lot of useful features. It provides a means for importing all this data into Moneydance. It can also import exchange rates.
I ran the program using the symbols in Sams screen shot, plus your symbol Tom. As some of the symbols are used by more than one security I had to make a guess and add an exchange symbol. Also, I think BNT should be BTN, but there are two of them on different exchanges. If any other symbol are returning the wrong quote they may need an exchange symbol added. Anyway, see screen shot.
Take a look at this thread and download the PDF outlining how to use the program and link to download the program. It works for me, saves looking up and entering manually.

Hope this helps

Hi derek,
Nice work on the PDF.
Just as an FYI, the link to hleofxquote's tool in your PDF is pointing to a slightly older build (170).
As you are aware, the latest build is currently build (172).

Hi, Kevin N
Take a look at post 1 in the thread.
I cant delete the PDF in post 0
If you can point people to that thread it would be good to have the discussion in one place.
Its certainly where I will post the next PDF to cover some updates I have asked hleofxquote for.
Regards

Hi Derek,
Ah, OK. Yes, I see now.
Again, just as an FYI, you can direct people to a specific post in a thread by clicking on the number in the post's header. Doing so creates a unique URL that can be copied from the browser's address bar.
e.g. This one points to post 1 of your thread.
