REINVESTING DIVIDENDS
What category should I use for reinvesting dividends? The program keeps entering CARS or CHARITy or whatever and I cannot clear it.
Thanks.

looking at the article, I find that the categories are not applicable to me, so how do I clear the auto filled entries which are incorrect?

Moneydance is built on the principles of Double Entry book keeping, because of this you must have a category, as every transaction must have two sides.
The Dividends are an income item, there is a Income Category called Dividends in the Investment section which you could use, if you need to define different Dividends in different ways can define your own additional categories. Reinvesting dividends does not change this it only means that you have reinvested the dividends that you were entitled to received.

Thanks. I wasn't quite sure and all of the categories were populating with
CAR which is my first cstegory. I could not change it, but then I realized
that they disappeared when I entered...very confusing.

When you create an account a default category is set, if you do not change it the first category in the list is assigned.
