I'm in the process of considering switching to Money Dance and would like to know if I need to set up a separate investment account for each security? I buy shares for my securities by transferring funds from another account. How do I enter a deposit transaction then enter a share purchase transaction? Thanks

    I'm a fellow user.

While you can setup investments with a separate account for each security you do not need to. Many users will create an Investment account that represents an Investment House and use this for all securities that are traded through that house. The choice of set up is up to you and depends on the approach you wish to take, or may be partially determined by how data is available to you.

The typical approach with transactions will involve you initially creating the securities you need and linking them to the accounts you are going to use those in.

To process a transaction you can use a XFR transaction to transfer the funds to the investment account then a Buy transaction to add the securities purchased to the account, the could combine these two transactions into a single BuyXfr transaction as well. The following section of the Knowledge Base will hopefully help you.
