Security Price Entry Extension
I have been using this extension to update security prices of funds and bonds for many years. Yesterday, I upgraded to 2017.7 and updated this extension. It brings up the list of securities I want to update but I am unable to actually enter any information. I type but nothings happens. Can you help? Martin

I am not support staff, just another user.
As Yahoo and Google have removed there free quote service Moneydance has been forced to switch to a new free provider Alpha Vantage.
When running the extension Q & ER v1015 you should see the button “Set API Key” click and then click on “Get Alphavantage API Key”. You will be taken to the Alpha Vantage site to obtain a free key. Enter this key into the extension and select Alpha Vantage as the quote source.
In some regions and for some types of securities Alpha Vantage provides a poor service. If you find that no data is returned for some of your securities then try the free stand-alone program to obtain quotes and imports this data into Moneydance ,

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I am familiar with the Q & ER rate extension and use it for equities which seems to work quite well once I'd sorted pence and pound. However I have also been using the Security Price Entry Extension for other securities very successfully until yesterday when, following the upgrade, I could no longer enter the prices against the securities.

I'm a fellow customer,
Some users have reports problems with the latest stable release - problems that didn't seem to arise in the preview release of the same build.
At the moment the temporary fix is to regress back to the previous stable release.
The previous stable release can be found at:

Thank you. I have rolled back to the previous version but it made no difference to my particular problem. My gut feeling is that the problem is with the extension but I am no expert.

Hi sellick
I am running 2017.7(1670). Installed is the extension Security Price Entry build v103. After your post it still seems to be working, but I no longer use it as I use the stand-alone Q & ER program.
I am a UK investor and have found that Alpha Vantage provide very poor support for UK/Irish/Luxenberg etc, domiciled funds. Alpha Vantage sometimes switches back and forward between Pence and Pounds. No such problem with the stand-alone program. I am Out of my 42 securities only returns 3 are returned correctly by Alpha Vantage whereas the stand-alone program returns 39 and I can enter the remaining 3 into the stand-alone program so all the data is entered in Moneydance in one go.
Give it a try!
Let us know how you get on.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your help. I am running the same versions. I have rolled back to the previous build and upgraded again; removed the extension and reinstalled and it now works so I am happy. Many thanks.
