AlphaVantage functionality in V2017.7.1
Hi, I am currently using V2014.5 and am considering upgrading to V2017.7.1
The key reason for doing this is automatic stock price updates which no longer work from Google or Yahoo. I understand that V2017.7.1 now has the ability to import stock prices using AlphaVantage's API but I do not understand precisely what is offered. I need access to a wide range of stock, fund and ETF prices from the London market. Will V2017.7.1 give me this 'out of the box' or do I need to find a data source and try and manually link to it using the API kit ?
Thanks, Steve

I am not support staff, just a user.
I am running 2017.7.1 and build v1015 of the Q & ER extension and I have given up on Alpha Vantage. Alpha Vantage is a data source as was Yahoo before it.
I am a UK investor and have found that Alpha Vantage provide very poor support for UK/Irish/Luxenberg etc, domiciled funds. Alpha Vantage sometimes switches back and forward between Pence and Pounds which destroys the price history for that security. Out of my 42 securities Alpha Vantage only correctly supports 3.
I am using a free stand-alone program that was originally developed to help out users of MS Money when Microsoft stopped supporting that product. The program is in java, like Moneydance and thus runs on Windows, Mac and Linux computers. The developer has adapted it to work with Moneydance and is actively supporting the program. This program is very stable and the quotes very consistent with the option of two sources, not Alpha Vantage. No strange prices for UK investors, switching between Pence and Pounds. It has a lot of useful features. These include, obtaining prices from many stocks and fund quoted on different exchanges, US, Canada, UK, Europe and Australia to name but a few. The program has the ability to convert quotes from one currency to another. Convert prices in Pence to Pounds, if required, for UK stocks and funds. More features in the pipeline. Provide a means for importing all this data into Moneydance. You can also import exchange rates along with your security prices, if required. Out of my 42 securities the stand-alone program support 38.
If you would like me to test say four securities list there symbols along with there names and I will check using the Q & ER extension and the stand-alone program.
You can also take a look at his thread and download the PDF outlining how to use the stand-alone program and link to download the program itself.

Note the PDF is written around importing into 2017.
Hope this helps.
