Alphavantage - price feed

Hi, i've been using the Alphavantage price feed running v 2017.7.1(1671) to monitor some investments quoted on the London stock exchange. There are two settings for this exchange depending on how the stocks are priced.
London exchange (GBP) or London exchange (pence).
I set each stock up so they are priced correctly and the values are calculated correctly, but every few days they seem to change so the values are either 100 times too great or the reverse. I switch the settings and the values are fine for a few days, and then it happens again. This has been going on for some time and is a bit of a pain. I can only assume that someone at Alphavantage is being inconsistant in how they input the prices. Is it possible for you to investigate please. Many thanks

   Hi Jim

   I am a UK investor and have given up on the Q & ER extension for exactly the same reasons, Pence and Pounds. Also, Alpha Vantage provide poor coverage of my mutual funds.

   In case you are not aware the is a free stand-alone program that was originally developed to help out users of MS Money when Microsoft stopped supporting that product. The program is in java, like Moneydance and thus runs on Windows, Mac and Linux computers. The developer has adapted it to work with Moneydance and is actively supporting the program. This program is very stable and the quotes very consistent with the option of two sources, not Alpha Vantage. No strange prices. It has a lot of useful features. More features in the pipeline. Provide a means for importing all this data into Moneydance. You can also import exchange rates along with your security prices, if required.

   Take a look at his thread and download the PDF outlining how to use the program and link to download the program. Post 122 in this thread.

   Let us know how this program performs for you.

   It’s a good idea to click on the “SUBSCRIBE TO UPDATES” button to you are cheap up to date including when new builds are available.

   Couldn’t get the Security Price Loader extension to work but the Security History Loader seemed fine so I will run with that for a while.

   So, you didn’t have any problems with the stand-alone program itself?

   What was the issue with the Security Price Loader?

   Although you got around the issue by using the Security History Loader I would like to get to the bottom of any problems in case other user run across the same issue.
   If you can spare the time, give as much detail as you can, including the version of Monenydance you are running, see under HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE e.g. 2017.7.1(1671). Also, what is your computer operating system. How many symbols security and exchange rates do you have?

   No problem with hleOfxQuotes. I was able to access the prices I needed and followed the instructions in the pdf without too much trouble and created the CSV file for the converted prices

   I’m running MD 2017.7.1 (1671) on a Mac running OSX 10.11.6
   hleOfxQuotes Build 20180422-206

   Downloading 20 securities (19 London 1 Nasdaq) originally 1 exchange rate but deleted that as MD did the conversion OK (using Security History Loader)

   When I click ‘Load Data’ I just get a blank screen :-

   The Security History Loader creates the list of the prices fine, and I just need to tick each one individually (shame theres not a select all box) and save. Bingo - works perfectly.

   Be interested to know if I’m doing something stupid.

   Glad hleOfxQuotes program worked for you.
   in both the Security History Loader and the Security Price loader there is a Select All tick box. Take a look at the screen shot page 4 of the PDF Arrow pointing to the tick box from the words "Ticking this box selects all lines for import".

   I am intrigued by the problems you are having with the Security Price Loader.
   Can you post a screen shot of the Security Price Loader so I can see the setting you have made. Also can you close then reopen Moneydance and try to use that extension and if after clicking LOAD DATA nothing happens click HELP - CONSOLE WINDOW and SAVE to save a text file then post that file as well. It could help Mike the developer of the extension find the problem if there is one.

   Hi Jim

   Mike has update his extension late yesterday to fix the issue seen by some Mac users, looks like you are one of them. Can you used EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS to remove the Security Price Loader.
   Download securitypriceload.mxt again from https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2015/downloads/
   And install. Post with what you find when you run the extension.

   Hope this helps.

    Please could you post the .csv file. Also the image of the parameter screen is very small and I can't read what options you have chosen. Please could you list them or give a bigger image.

    Mike has update his extension late yesterday to fix the issue seen by some Mac user. At the time he forgot to update the build number to 2025. Can you download again and install so we can be certain you have the correct build.
    Along with Mikes requests could you check the symbols you are using in Moneydance exactly match, those you used in the hleofxquotes program. In fact, can you post a screen shot of one of the symbols in the window TOOLS – SECURITIES- select a security and double click – EDIT. This will enable us to check it against the symbol in the CSV file.

    Loaded build 2025. I now get a list of the securities rather than a blank page but it still doesn’t work. Clicking the select all box doesn’t select all and I can’t tick any individual box either. When I click save - nothing happens. Attached csv. and 2 pdf’s.

    The symbols match MD and the CSV works using the Price History loader so I don’t think it’s that

    Hi Jim

    Try unticking the “Remove Exchange from Ticker?” box

    Also, lloy needs to be upper case in MD to match LLOY in CSV file or lower case in hleofxquotes program. Case must match.
