Unable to update stock prices
I have been running Moneydance version 2017.7.1 (1671).
Recently Quotes and Exchange Rates has not been updating.
Get message..no trusted certificate found. I suspect my API Key stopped working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the key to no avail. I’m going on a couple of weeks now.

“no trusted certificate found” normally means that your build of 2017 is out of date and you need to update to the latest release. But you seem to be running the latest build. Problems like this can be frustrating and time consuming.
There is a free alternative that does not suffer from these issues, it a stand-alone program that was originally developed to help out users of MS Money when Microsoft stopped supporting that product. The developer is actively supporting this software and has adapted it to work with Moneydance. This current build very stable and the quotes very consistent. Two sources are available, not Alpha Vantage. No strange prices. It has a lot of useful features. These include obtaining quote for stocks & funds, from many stock exchanges US, Canada, UK, Europe and Australia to name but a few. Provide a means for importing all this data into Moneydance. You can also import exchange rates along with your security prices. The program is in java, like Moneydance and thus runs on Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

Thanks. I was having all sorts of issues with computer. Possibly NIC problem. I’m now using LAN hardware rather than wireless. And after a lot of issues did latest Mac OS update. And it’s working again. At least for now.

Derek, I'm trying to use the app but I'm having a problem. I downloaded the app, entered the symbols for all of my investments and successfully downloaded all of the prices. I then right click in the Symbol column, go to MD--Save CSV. I then get the save dialogue box and then try to save. But nothing is ever saved. When I go the the Security Price Loader app and go to the folder in which I tried to save the prices, there is no saved file there.
Any suggestions?

Hi Dennis
Can you create a new folder in your document folder say called “Quotes”.
Then using MD—Save CSV navigate into the new “Quotes” folder before clicking “Save”.
Or try saving the CSV file to your Desktop.
Using your file explorer/finder check the file has been created. mdQuotes-ft.csv or mdQuotes-yahoo.scv or the name you have saved it under.
If you still have problems post again and include what operating system your computer is running.

Thanks for the suggestions, I created a new folder as you suggested, but nothing is saved.
I'm using Windows 10.
I'd appreciate any other suggestions you have,

Can you confirm you are now able to use the Security Price Loader to import the quotes into Moneydance?
And if you have got the process sorted out how well does it work for you?

Hi, yes it seems to downloading all of the prices I need and then loading them into Moneydance. So, thank you for the solution to my problem. I'll admit I found the instructions a bit daunting, and I had some difficulties getting everything downloaded and working properly, but I kept working at it and got it to work. Thank you very much for making this available to us. I like Moneydance a lot but the downloading of investment information is the program's Achilles heel. Your apps provide a nifty solution!

The credit for the stand-alone hleofxquotes Program goes to hleofxquotes and the Security/history loader extension to Mike Brake. I was responsible for the instructions which were bit daunting, sorry about that.
The important thing is you persisted and now can take advantage of a great solution.
