stock price history is not preserved

I'm having problems with the stock price updating. I have seen the posts about the stock price download extensions issues but I think this is something different.
I have some stocks that seem to lose the last few weeks of stock prices. If I open the Stock download extension and only check 2 stocks to update, then click the update button, I see the new prices in the stock history and on the graph for those stocks. If I exit and re-open Moneydance, the history for the stocks that I just updated no longer shows the recent prices. For example, AGG; in my history the last date it has a price for is 7/25/18. I update it and see prices through today, 8/14/18. If I exit and re-open MD, the most recent price is back to 7/25/18.
I was using Dropbox syncing, but I turned that off thinking it might be causing the problem.
