Default Transfer Category
My default transfer category for investments is "business checking" and I cannot figure out how to change it. It should be "investment income" Help? The default category in my account is set to "fees". That never comes up.
Search reveals too many hits on "default category", nothing for "default transfer category".

I'm a fellow user.
There is no such thing a default transfer category.
The default category is either a category or an account depending on what you select and it selects the default for the transfer field. There is no default setting for the category field in Investment accounts.
One way to access it is to open the Investment register then select the menu item Account --> Edit account the selection for default Category is about 2/3 the way down the window.

Dear dwg: On my computer I see two different things... those are not the same. Apples and Oranges.
Two different things. On my computer, downloaded transactions default to "business checking" and interest items default to "atm withdrawl"
there are two defaults for different kind of transactions. You can see my default is set to ATM Withdrawls... so how/why does "business checking" (account not in use) being inserted by moneydance?

When you download and import transactions Moneydance makes suggestions on the category based on previously confirmed transactions, there is an algorithm based on Description, Amount etc . I can only assume you have had some previously confirmed imported transaction with this categorization.

Hi Robert,
Is 'business checking' the first account in your list of accounts?
It has been my experience, with regards to imported transfer transactions, that Moneydance will default to the first account in your list of accounts.
You'll need to manually change imported transfer transactions so that they point to the desired account.
