Cash Balance
If I enter the sale of a security in the 'Register' tab, the cash balance seems to be correctly updated for the sale.
Why does the balance shown in the 'Cash Register' tab show a completely different balance?

Which version of Moneydance are you using? Help > about Moneydance.
The cash balance of both the investment register and the bank register of the investment account should be the same. The first thing to check is to see if the registers are sorted by date in the same manner.

I am using Moneydance version 2015.5 (1225). My computer runs Windows 8.1.
I've checked that the investment register & the bank register of the same
account are sorted by date in the same manner.
The bank register shows a running balance in its right hand column which
does not agree with the balance or current balance as shown at the bottom
of the page or in the investment register. Which balance is correct & why
do they differ?
With many thanks,
Penny Robinson

Please update to the most recent build of MD 2015, which is 1299. This should fix the issue. If not please let us know.
You can download that here: http://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

I am having the same issue. One amount shows in the Bank Register, one at the bottom of the screen for the Investment account and one that I have from the Investment account. In fact the bank register in the investment account seemed to double in value from the last entry which was less than 10% of the account value. I have confirmed that the register is sorted correctly. Also downloaded current version build 1307. I am attaching a screen shot of the issue.

Buy and sell transactions don't show in the bank register so the running total in the bank register may appear to be off form the investment register. If you look at the cash balance in the bank register at the time of the last xfer then cross reference that to the same transaction in the investment register then the cash balance is the same.
I know this is confusing and will attach a ticket to ask the developers to look into some manner of showing the current cash balance in the bank register.
